Introduction

Typically the world is seen as being divided into different classes of countries. There are, for example wealthier nations (MEDC), there are poorer nations (LEDC). We use many factors in determining the relative wealth of a nation. These factors are usually related to standard of living(not to be confused with quality of life).
For the sake of this theme, though, we will focus on the various stages of economic development a nation may be in as indicated by the percentage of its workforce engaged in primary, secondary, tertiary or quaternary industries.
